Beschwerdeverfahren

If you believe something on Medienconnect is inaccurate, unfair, or has breached editorial standards, this page explains exactly how to let us know and what you can expect. We take every complaint seriously and have a clear process to review, respond, and – where necessary – correct the record. You are welcome to submit a complaint at any time, and we will handle it promptly and transparently.

How do I submit a complaint?

Send an email to complaints@medienconnect.de with the subject line “Complaint” followed by the article title or topic. Please include your name, a brief description of the issue, and – if relevant – the URL or publication date of the content you are referring to. You do not need to use a specific form; a clear explanation is enough. If you prefer not to email, you can also write to our editorial team via the general contact address info@medienconnect.de, and we will redirect your complaint to the right person.

How will my complaint be handled?

Once we receive your complaint, our fact‑checking lead Julia Franke (ansvarig för faktagranskning) will acknowledge receipt within two working days. She will assess whether the issue relates to factual accuracy, editorial standards, or something else. If it concerns a factual error, the relevant reporter and editor will review the evidence, and Julia will coordinate with our fact‑checking team. We aim to give you a substantive response within ten working days, though complex cases may take longer. If a correction is warranted, we will publish it in accordance with our Corrections Policy and update the original article with a note. You can also read our full Fact‑Checking Policy for more detail on how we verify information.

What if I am not satisfied with the response?

If you believe your complaint has not been adequately addressed, you can escalate it to our editor‑in‑chief, Alexander Seidel (chefredaktör). Email him directly at anders.lindqvist@medienconnect.de (or use our Contact page) and reference your original complaint. He will personally review the case, consider any further evidence, and issue a final decision. This escalation is free of charge and available to anyone. No matter the outcome, we will explain our reasoning clearly. For independent oversight, you may also contact the Swedish Press Council or other relevant bodies, though we encourage you to give us the opportunity to resolve matters first.

How this works in practice

Imagine you read an article on Medienconnect about changes to Sweden’s housing market and spot a statistic that seems incorrect. You email complaints@medienconnect.de with the article’s URL and a note explaining the discrepancy. Within 48 hours Julia Franke confirms receipt and begins checking the source. She finds that a data point was indeed misstated. The economics reporter Sandra Schmitt verifies the correct figure, and an editor approves a correction. A note is appended to the article, and the correction is logged in our corrections archive. You receive an email explaining what changed and why. The entire process takes five working days. This same structure applies to any complaint – from a mistaken date to a potentially misleading headline.
