Berichtigungspolitik

Every reader who spots a mistake in our reporting helps us uphold the trust that journalism depends on. This page explains exactly how we handle corrections at Medienconnect, from the moment you tell us about an error to the point where we put it right, so you know what to expect and how to hold us accountable.

How do I report an error?

Send a clear description of the error to our dedicated corrections address: corrections@medienconnect.de. Please include the article title, the URL, the exact wording or fact you believe is wrong, and what you think the correct information should be.

Our corrections team, led by our fact‑checking manager Julia Franke (emma.sandberg@medienconnect.de), reads every submission. You do not need to be a subscriber or registered user to report an error. If you prefer not to use email, you can also use the general contact form (Contact) with the subject line “Correction”. We treat all reports confidentially and will not share your identity without your consent.

What happens after I submit a correction?

Your report is logged and assigned to our standards desk within one working day. Julia Franke or a member of her fact‑checking team reviews the claim, checks original sources, and consults the relevant reporter or editor.

We aim to acknowledge your report within 48 hours. For material errors – those that change the meaning of an article or mislead readers – we update the article and add a visible correction note explaining what was wrong and what has been changed. The note appears at the top or bottom of the article, depending on the severity, and includes the date of correction. Minor typographical or formatting errors are fixed without a separate note, but we still log them internally. If the error is not confirmed, we explain our reasoning to the person who reported it. You can escalate any concern about our handling to editor‑in‑chief Alexander Seidel (anders.lindqvist@medienconnect.de), who reviews all unresolved cases personally.

How this works in practice

Imagine we publish an article stating that a Swedish government proposal was introduced on 10 March. A reader spots that the correct date is 12 March. They email corrections@medienconnect.de with the article URL and the correct date. The standards desk verifies the date against the official government press release, confirms the error, and updates the article. A correction note is added at the top: “Correction, 14 March: This article originally said the proposal was introduced on 10 March. The correct date is 12 March. We apologise for the error.” The desk emails the reader to confirm the correction and thanks them for their help.

Who oversees corrections at Medienconnect?

Julia Franke, our fact‑checking manager, leads the day‑to‑day corrections workflow. She reports to Alexander Seidel, editor‑in‑chief, who has final authority over any disputed or sensitive correction. The whole process is documented and reviewed regularly as part of our editorial‑quality controls.

Every correction is recorded internally so we can spot recurring issues and improve our editorial processes. The fact‑checking team also maintains a log of all correction notes published on the site. You can read more about our broader fact‑checking standards in our Fact‑Checking Policy and about our overall editorial approach in the Editorial Policy.

Where can I find related policies?

Our commitment to accuracy is supported by several other publicly available policies. You can view them all at the links below.

Medienconnect is an independent Swedish digital news publisher owned and operated by Medienconnec Media Ltd., a private company registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry). Our editorial independence is guaranteed by this ownership structure and by our internal charter, which explicitly states that commercial relationships – including display advertising, affiliate links, sponsored content, and content licensing – never determine editorial conclusions. All sponsored or commercial material is clearly labelled.
