How does Medienconnect make money?

Medienconnect is funded through a mix of display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing. No single revenue stream determines editorial direction, and all commercial material is clearly labelled so you can always tell the difference between independent journalism and paid promotion.

Our display advertising is sold directly and through programmatic networks. Affiliate links appear in some articles, and we disclose them at the point of use – for example, when we recommend a book or a service. Sponsored content is marked with a “sponsored” label, and sponsored newsletters carry a similar notice. We also license occasional articles to other publishers. Each of these income sources helps us keep the site free to read while paying our journalists and fact-checkers.

Commercial relationships never influence editorial conclusions. Our advertising and affiliate disclosure explains the specific safeguards we use, including a firewall between the sales team and the newsroom.

How this works in practice

Let’s say you read an article on the Swedish economy that includes a link to a brokerage platform. That link is an affiliate link – if you sign up, Medienconnect may earn a small commission. The article itself was written by Sandra Schmitt, our Wirtschaftreporter, and reviewed by her editor. The presence of the affiliate link did not change the content, and the article would have been the same without it. The link is labelled clearly, and you are never charged extra. This model allows us to produce independent, fact-checked journalism without putting the content behind a paywall.

Who owns and oversees the publication?

Medienconnect is owned by Nordklar Media Ltd, a private company registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009) with its registered office at Office 9, Business Centre, Valletta, Malta. Editorial independence is guaranteed by our governance structure: the editor-in-chief, Alexander Seidel, has final authority over all published content and cannot be overruled by the owner or any commercial partner.

Alexander Seidel is accountable for editorial standards, publication decisions and corrections. He reports to the board of Nordklar Media Ltd, but the board’s role is limited to financial and legal oversight. Day-to-day editorial choices – what to cover, how to frame a story, which sources to trust – are made entirely by the newsroom. You can read more about our team and how we are organised on the Our Team page, which lists every editorial role and its responsibilities.

Our funding model is designed to protect this independence. No advertiser, partner or sponsor has any say in our editorial agenda. If you want to know more about our story and the values that guide us, see About Us.

How can I contact the advertising team?

If you are interested in advertising on Medienconnect, please use the dedicated email address advertising@medienconnect.de. Our commercial team handles display ads, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and partnership enquiries. They can provide a media kit, rate card and targeting options.

For general enquiries about the publication – suggestions, feedback, corrections or complaints – the best starting point is our Contact page, which lists all departmental email addresses. The editorial team can be reached directly at editorial@medienconnect.de, and the fact-checking team at factcheck@medienconnect.de.

In short

Medienconnect is owned by Nordklar Media Ltd, funded by transparent advertising and affiliate revenue, and governed by an editor-in-chief who holds sole responsibility for editorial decisions. Our ownership and funding structures are designed to keep the journalism independent and trustworthy – nothing else takes priority.
